Distribution and Occurance

California-laurel is the only lauraceous species in the Western North America. California-laurel occurs in the Klamath, siskyou and coastal ranges as far North as Douglas County, Oregon South to San Diego, California. California-laurel can be found in elevations ranging from sea-level up to 5,200ft. California-laurel can thrive in a variety of climates from moist, coastal valleys to dry, rocky slopes.
